A delightful drinking chocolate cafe. Our server Cheyenne let us try samples of all the available drinking chocolates. Of the meso-american ones, the zapoteca is unsweetened and almost like an espresso. The chili carries quite the kick but our personal favorite was the Mayan, which had the same chili kick but was tempered by the herbs that lent a floral, almost orange blossomy, flavor. The others were good, as well. The Marie Antoinette was our favorite among the bottom half. Sweet with a lovely floral hint. The fresh nutmeg was a nice touch in the Jeffersonian!

I want to go back to Kakawa everyday! The chocolate was *amazing* and the elixir I ordered was to die for. The young woman who served me, Etsy, was lovely and helped me find the perfect mix of truffles to gift to my mother-in-law. My only regret is that I didn't order more to take with me!

We ordered some chocolate on Sunday night. It is Thursday and we received it all in excellent and stable condition! They went above and beyond to keep the chocolate cool. The box that the chocolate came in, had a sticker on the outside that warned that there were temperature sensitive items inside, and the chocolate came with a little cooling pack. Our favorites are the Chili and the Rose Almond! We have yet to try the Havana Rum and Chocolate Chai, but we love their chocolate so much that we're willing to take a chance. We wish we could go there in person, but with that being said, they are reliable to have shipped directly to your door. Their flavors are outstanding, and this chocolate has become a staple of our house. We cannot do without it. It is our little piece of Santa Fe that we can have anywhere. We cannot recommend them highly enough!!! Well of course the number one preference would be to see them in person, it's important to know that they ship too!

Quick stop at the famous Kakawa Chocolate House before my friend and I went to take a workout class elsewhere in Santa Fe. Cozy local spot with a variety of chocolate goods. I had the chili elixir (I'm a sucker for spicy chocolate) as well as the Aztec chocolate chile ice cream to mix it up. Both were delicious, and I would get them again! Excellent customer service. I'll definitely want to check out the other Kakawa locations if I'm ever here in the future.

My friend and I loved our visit at Kakawa chocolate house. Once we arrived Tony was very attentive to us and provided us different samples before we chose two different hot chocolates. I highly suggest getting it with whipped cream! It truly makes the difference. The mugs they were served in are also for sale along with other merchandise. If you are in Santa Fe I highly recommend you stop by for a sweet treat. It is a cute little place with great customer service and seating to enjoy whatever you decide to get.

The hot chocolate is amazing and they want to make sure you get the chocolate you actually like so expect to spend a few minutes trying a few of their options. I appreciate their attention to quality over quantity. I loved how they separated out traditional chocolate from new/European style versions. Their homemade whip cream was crazy good! I bought a lot of chocolates to go (to take back home). The pistachio chocolate bar was so gooooood!

Kakawa Chocolate House. If I could pin this as my top review, I would. Santa Fe, you have something truly special with this chocolatier. I was completely blown away by this establishment, the ice cream, chocolate elixers, and the service. I love when a location has a signature item (New Mexico's chiles), and Santa Fe also has Kakawa Chocolate House. When you first enter the historic adobe space with the turquoise trim, you're greeted with a breeze of chocolate and a line of anticipatory customers. If you're new to this space, you might be a little overwhelmed by just good senses and vibes: smiling faces, a sweet aroma, and a charming space. This place is guaranteed to make you happier than you were before you entered. A chocolate elixir is like a hot cocoa, but I love how the team here has researched its history and tries to concoct the kind of cocoa and chocolate they would have served throughout history from the ancient Aztecs, to Marie Antoinette, to Thomas Jefferson. I want to call out our server Ishi, who was nothing but patient, considerate, and informative to my family and questions. Her attentiveness and answers made me want to do all my Christmas shopping here and I ended up buying more truffles and mole and goodies. If she is any indication, Kakawa hires wonderful people who go above and beyond. If Kakawa is reading this, Ishi deserves that Christmas bonus! Now for the main event: I don't care how cold it is, you have to try the Aztec Chile Chocolate Ice Cream with Whipped cream. I love ice cream, but I've never had such a wholly unique, fresh-tasting ice cream that has such complexity. It tastes rich without tasting artificial; bittersweet, but perfectly balanced between the two flavors. The whipped cream is as fluffy as a cloud, but my favorite sensation was the chile. I love that it dovetails with New Mexico, and also gets a nice bite and warmth not on first bite, but such a peppery sensation on the aftertaste. You get the real sense that this is a business that cares about the product and the customer experience. You can taste it. This is a must visit location when you're in Santa Fe, New Mexico; dare I say this is the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had. I can't wait to give my truffle gifts and make that mole. Kakawa has a fanatic who'll be preaching their praises to anyone with ears! Food: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Experience: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 Good for: everyone! Save room for dessert. Recommends: Aztec Chile Chocolate with whipped cream. Notes: Why not walk over after a day at the Plaza, Museums, and Basilicas.

This is a definite MUST VISIT if you're ever in Santa Fe!! The hubs and I each got a drinking chocolate flight with whipped cream and bought added truffles and a brownie to our delicious stop! The Goat Cheese and Sage truffles were absolutely amazing!! The combo is perfect with chocolate!! The staff is so nice and welcoming that you'll want to stay here a little longer instead of taking it to go.
